Spring Green Palouse Photo Tour 2017
DSLR Photography and  “iPhoneography”

7 Day Photography Tour.

Sunday June 11 - Saturday June 17, 2017  $1095.00

The breathtaking Palouse region of Eastern Washington State is home to the second largest wheat fields in the world. The yellow canola fields and blue skies are a photographer’s paradise in spring! We will be shooting the landscape from every angle possible during June the "Green and Yellow" month of the year. Farmhouses, grain elevators, old weathered barns, bridges, tractors and classic scenes of rural America are scattered all around the countryside.

I have photographed in the Palouse many times and I will be scouting the best current locations for an entire week before the workshop begins. This workshop includes early morning sunrise shoots and sunset shoots with landscape opportunities during the day.
We will carpool to shooting locations minimizing cars on the roads.

Photographic Opportunities
Agricultural abundance, Palouse Falls, Kamiak Butte, Steptoe Butte, old bridges and railroad trestles, the Snake River, small farming towns and communities, windmills, barns, grain silos-grain elevators, tractors-combines-farm equipment, and graveyards-churches.
Our shooting locations are varied, depending upon the time of day, light and weather. We will also be flexible to capture serendipitous photo opportunities.

In this workshop I will help you learn...
How to capture dynamic images:
Using design elements in composition, creative image making using swipes and zoom  techniques, understanding exposure, depth  of field, and help you to develop your personal  photographic style.
• How to see the best light for your subjects
• How to shoot for High Dynamic Range light
• Processing techniques including HDR, converting to black and white and more. Software demos on Nik Silver Efex Pro 2, Color Efex, PhotoMatix, Nik HDR Pro, Topaz,
and Snapart 4.
• How to master your camera gear
• How to improve your travel photography and iPhone photography

There will also be some planned free time for you to explore on your own.

Workshop Time
The workshop begins at 4:00 pm on Sunday June 11 and ends on Saturday June 17, after our morning shoot.

Getting There
The Palouse region is situated in eastern Washington. The nearest airport is Spokane and is approx. 65 miles from the hotel. There are many car rental locations at the Spokane Airport to rent a car for the drive to the hotel.

We will eat most if not all meals together as this time is an important part of each workshop, this will range in price from Subway to a local pub. (Don’t expect gourmet dining! Although, as always, I will do my best to have fun quality dining locations on the itinerary!) Please bring snacks and fluids with you in case you need a recharge in the field between meals. We will eat most breakfasts at the at Best Western since it's included with the lodging. (There is also a classic diner and a very nice cafe which will be our other breakfast options while in Colfax.)

Physical Activity
This workshop will require very little hiking. A few spots we visit may be about 200 feet of moderate elevation gain covering a few hundred yards. All other areas will be flat walking near where we park.

You will want to bring good hiking shoes/boots, casual clothing layers, a rain jacket and pants. Weather in the Palouse can change rapidly from sunshine to pouring rain, and can vary from warm to very chilly in the mornings. If you get cold easily, bring hat and gloves. Temperatures this time of year can range from lows in the 40’s to highs in the 80's.

The cost for the workshop is $1095.00 per person.

Not included are: lodging, meals, park fees, museum fees and transportation.
We will carpool to shooting locations.
Deposit of $500.00 due upon registration. Final $595.00 deposit due March 1, 2017.
I rely on your attendance to make important arrangements, so if for any reason you need to withdraw, please notify me in writing (email is okay) 60 days or more before the start date of your workshop. At that time I will refund your deposits by check, less a $125 cancellation fee.
