Roy's Restaurant Annual Aloha Kitchen Challenge
This was a fun event with Chef Roy Yamaguchi center stage. My job was to capture images of Chef Roy with the students from BIC, the guest Judges, Reagan Warfield, Downtown Diane, Rodney Henry, Anita Marks, Myranda Stephens, a few food shots and some guests. The shooting got started outside with formal shots of Roy with each of the students and guest chefs, Jesse Sandlin, Abacrombie Fine Foods, Nino Germano, La Scala and Franklin Thomas, Westin Hotel National Harbor. The entire restaurant staff also was hearded out quickly for a large group shot as guests began to arrive.
I had free roam of the kitchen to grab some kitchen and food shots. Then as guests began to enjoy their meals a five course dinner with a fixed menu of Ceviche of Australian Hiramasa, Braised Rabbit, Mascarpone & Mushroom Ravioli, Foie Gras Stuffed Fig, Goat Cheese Herb Cake & Baby Arugula, Carribean Lamb Shank & Coconut Scented Pigeon Pea Basmati Rice, finished off with Matcha Cheesecake! Wow, and each dish was accompanied with a preselected wine. The ticket for this event was $85.00. I was fortunate to enjoy the meal after shooting, minus the wine. The food is always great at Roys and Jeannie Lee the East Coast PR Manager is great to work with. I hope some of you get a chance to dine at Roys!
